• Cathy

Cathy (name changed) lives in Poole and was an active sportswoman until she suffered a stroke in her early forties which limited her access to physical activity.

Cathy was a talented hockey player before her stroke but had never played golf. She quickly became extremely adept through coaching with Deej and confessed that she now lives for her golf sessions.

Cathy’s sister has reported that the introduction to golf has changed Cathy’s life. She has met new friends and recovered the confidence and purpose lost to her devastating stroke.

  • Will

Will, aged 37, has always been active enjoying a range of sports and outdoor activities. Five years ago, an accident left him paralysed from the chest down and he became a permanent wheelchair user.

Will enjoyed playing golf when he was younger and was a member of a golf club. He never thought it would be possible to swing a club once he became disabled. For the past month, Will has had the opportunity to experience that golf is a fantastic, inclusive sport with a range of physical, mental and social benefits that he is thoroughly enjoying.

Will looks forward to progressing and adapting further on the golf course with his newfound passion.

  • Chester

Chester (Chezzy) is 7 years old and has Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy, is a full-time wheelchair user and has limited use of his upper limbs. He has been having golf lessons with Deej for 6 months and absolutely LOVES it. Finding accessible activities that Chezzy enjoys has been a real challenge over the years. His family has tried sports such as Wheelchair football and Athletics but he has struggled to enjoy any of them. Golf has been different though- Chezzy actively asks us to take him, and he is constantly laughing when he is with Deej. The lessons have been great for his confidence and are good physical therapy for his arms to complement his ongoing physiotherapy.
